STV is seeking an Environmental Geologist to join our Environmental department at our New York City, NY office.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of environmental engineering and consulting experience. Relevant experience includes:
- Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and Subsurface Investigations.
- Technical report writing.
- Assisting with design document preparation.
- Performing site reconnaissance and inspections.
The candidate should possess a strong technical inclination, be self-motivated to take ownership of challenging problems, and have excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Perform ASTM-compliant Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and other due diligence efforts.
- Coordinate and oversee drilling activities, subsurface investigations, and remedial actions, including classifying soil and collecting environmental samples (soil, water, sediment, soil gas, indoor air) in accordance with regulations and procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to prepare engineering design documents (e.g., vapor mitigation, in-situ remediation, stormwater control, potable water systems).
- Assist with construction-period services like reviewing contractor submittals and conducting site inspections.
- Develop emergency response, remedial investigation, and work plans for environmental issues.
- Perform Community Air Monitoring Plan (CAMP) monitoring.
- Provide on-site verification and inspections post-remediation activities.
- Inspect potable water systems, including disinfection and lead testing.
- Occasionally oversee emergency spill response and cleanup.
- Communicate technical information with partners and vendors for project planning.
- Assist project managers in preparing and reviewing planning documents, reports, and budgets.
- Ensure compliance with NYC and NYS regulations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or GIS is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant environmental experience.
- Bachelors degree in environmental engineering, geology, or environmental science.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Reliable team player and self-starter.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in all conditions.
- Availability for overtime, some evenings, weekends, and limited travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in professional licensure.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
- 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety Training.
- Experience with Phase I/II assessments, subsurface investigations, and construction monitoring.
- Experience with drilling, sampling, and remedial activities.
- Operation & maintenance of mechanical systems.
- Drafting with MicroStation.
- Modeling with REVIT.

Compensation Range: $60,151.50 - $80,202.00
