STV is seeking an Environmental Geologist to join our Environmental department at our New York City, NY office.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of environmental engineering and consulting experience. Relevant experience includes:

  • Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and Subsurface Investigations.
  • Technical report writing.
  • Assisting with design document preparation.
  • Performing site reconnaissance and inspections.

The candidate should possess a strong technical inclination, be self-motivated to take ownership of challenging problems, and have excellent written & verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform ASTM-compliant Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and other due diligence efforts.
  • Coordinate and oversee drilling activities, subsurface investigations, and remedial actions, including classifying soil and collecting environmental samples (soil, water, sediment, soil gas, indoor air) in accordance with regulations and procedures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to prepare engineering design documents (e.g., vapor mitigation, in-situ remediation, stormwater control, potable water systems).
  • Assist with construction-period services like reviewing contractor submittals and conducting site inspections.
  • Develop emergency response, remedial investigation, and work plans for environmental issues.
  • Perform Community Air Monitoring Plan (CAMP) monitoring.
  • Provide on-site verification and inspections post-remediation activities.
  • Inspect potable water systems, including disinfection and lead testing.
  • Occasionally oversee emergency spill response and cleanup.
  • Communicate technical information with partners and vendors for project planning.
  • Assist project managers in preparing and reviewing planning documents, reports, and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with NYC and NYS regulations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or GIS is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant environmental experience.
  • Bachelors degree in environmental engineering, geology, or environmental science.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Reliable team player and self-starter.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in all conditions.
  • Availability for overtime, some evenings, weekends, and limited travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in professional licensure.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
  • 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety Training.
  • Experience with Phase I/II assessments, subsurface investigations, and construction monitoring.
  • Experience with drilling, sampling, and remedial activities.
  • Operation & maintenance of mechanical systems.
  • Drafting with MicroStation.
  • Modeling with REVIT.

STV is committed to fair and transparent compensation. Salary ranges are estimates and may vary based on various factors.

Compensation Range: $60,151.50 - $80,202.00
