Competencies
The candidate must have knowledge of bio-psycho-social aspects of major mental illnesses; Medications used to treat mental illness; community resources and how to access them; evaluating and coping with family stress; problem solving and conflict resolution; ability to relate to clients, families and peers; Creativity and ability to work independently; Each individual in the IOC program will be offered the opportunity, and encouraged, to complete a Wellness and Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), a tool designed to help people develop skills, knowledge and attitudes needed in order to assume a more active role in maintaining mental health recovery
Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the involuntary outpatient commitment program.
  • Facilitates staff supervision, scheduling and service delivery to insure that all clients have timely access to appropriate services.
  • Ensures staff compliance with all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Interface with Court, STCF and Crisis Screening
  • Provides services to clients as necessary.
  • Quality clinical care through evidence-based practices with adults
  • Provide clear and accurate documentation
  • Conduct assessments
  • Understanding of the IOC commitment process
  • Advocacy and Referral
  • On-call responsibilities
  • Attend Meetings and complete various reports as required

Qualifications
  • Master's (MA/MS) degree in mental health related field;
  • Five (5) years experience working within the mental health system
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience
  • LCSW/LPC preferred
  • Knowledge and experience working with mentally ill in imminent distress
  • Knowledge of the mental health field in NJ and commitment to the principles of wellness & recovery.
  • Knowledge of the County Court System preferred
