Job Description
Examines claims data and conducts investigations into routine and moderately complex claims to determine coverage, compensability, subrogation, and benefits under moderate supervisory direction. Adjusts and manages claims within the limit of assigned authority. Must have California Workers Compensation claims statute experience. Preference for candidates in PST time zone. Fully remote.
What You Will Do For C&F
- Be well versed in California Compensation statute claims.
- Handle lost time and complex medical-only claims, verify coverage, and contact relevant parties promptly.
- Manage catastrophic claims with supervisory oversight.
- Conduct telephone investigations following company procedures.
- Evaluate and adjust claims within authority limits.
- Consult with Claim Manager on complex claims.
- Assign and monitor nurse case management when needed.
- Set reserves for claims exposure.
- Complete Reserve Worksheets and analyze complex claims data.
- Coordinate return-to-work plans and set target dates.
- Maintain claim diaries and document files accurately.
- Review medical bills for causality and charges, approve payments.
- Attend account meetings and manage litigation files.
What You Will Bring To C&F
- College degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 3+ years (preferably 5+) handling workers' compensation claims.
- Experience with California Workers Compensation statutes.
- Located in PST time zone preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn new programs quickly.
- Ability to adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
