Position Summary
Marist High School is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Major Gift Officer (MGO) to join our Advancement team. The MGO will play a critical role in advancing the mission of Marist High School, to make Jesus known and loved in the spirit of St. Marcellin Champagnat and the Marist Brothers, through the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts from alumni, parents, and friends of the school.
This individual will manage a portfolio of current and prospective donors, building long-term relationships that lead to increased philanthropic support. In addition to major gift work, the MGO will actively assist in key fundraising events, annual giving appeals, alumni socials, and other community-focused initiatives that strengthen donor relations and deepen engagement across the Marist community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Major Gift Officer will support Marist High Schools advancement efforts through a blend of donor engagement, event involvement, and team collaboration. Primary responsibilities include:
1. Major Gift Development
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of current and prospective major donors to increase philanthropic support
- Conduct regular donor outreach, including personal visits, phone calls, written communications, and virtual meetings
- Develop customized strategies for individual donors in alignment with campaign priorities, planned giving opportunities, and annual giving goals
- Prepare personalized proposals, presentations, and follow-up communications to facilitate meaningful giving
2. Fundraising Events and Appeals
- Assist in planning, executing, and following up on key fundraising events, including the annual gala, Day of Giving, scholarship receptions, and donor recognition events
- Support the coordination of alumni-related events like reunions and socials that cultivate donor relationships and expand engagement
- Partner with the Director of Advancement and the Advancement team to help lead or support annual giving appeals and outreach strategies
- Actively contribute to the overall Advancement strategy by participating in planning sessions, team meetings, and collaborative campaigns
4. CRM and Data Management
- Maintain accurate and timely donor records in Raisers Edge/NXT or other CRM systems
- Track all interactions, proposals, and stewardship actions to support a donor-centered strategy and comprehensive reporting
- Assist with data analysis and reporting to inform cultivation strategies, forecast outcomes, and evaluate campaign progress
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of 35 years of successful experience in sales or fundraising
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Strategic thinker with strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment
- Willingness to travel locally and regionally; occasional evening and weekend work required
- Proficiency in CRM tools (preferably Raisers Edge), Microsoft Office, or sales related platforms
