Due to rapid growth, a non-automotive, diverse manufacturer is adding a Cost Estimator to join their team at the Brighton, Michigan site. As the Cost Estimator , you will work with a team of others to develop and enter job shop estimates and determine product manufacturability. Daily responsibilities will include:
Analyze RFQs and technical documents to assess manufacturing feasibility and gather all necessary information for accurate quotes.
Calculate comprehensive costs, including raw materials, manufacturing times, and special processes by collaborating with internal teams (Manufacturing, Engineering, Machinists) and external suppliers.
Generate precise cost estimates and suggested selling prices using an ERP system, ensuring target gross margins are met.
Maintain and update quote data in the ERP system and communicate effectively with internal departments, customers, and suppliers throughout the quoting process.
- Additional tasks as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS for the Cost Estimator:
1. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED 2. At least 1-2 years of similar cost estimating experience in job shop/fabrication environments 3. Experience with machining concepts and/or machined parts 4. Experience determining manufacturability of parts 5. Blueprint reading skills 6. GD&T experience 7. Experience working with ERP systems 8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills 9. Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel
Skills preferred but NOT required:
1. Previous experience as a machinist
2. Experience with conveyors, chains, etc.
3. OEM (original equipment manufacturer) experience
