POSITION SUMMARY

The Jig and Fixture position supports the plant's assembly operations by providing support to ensure dimensional integrity of parts being produced for our customers. This includes, but is not limited to, producing, modifying, and repairing welding fixtures, robot end effector fixtures, and poke yoke fixtures. Heavy machining background is a must for this position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with maintenance team in addressing dimensional issues as they relate to the production welding equipment and working with others in the plant to maintain a safe, clean and productive work environment.

Work with engineering to develop and build Poke Yoke systems to prevent defective parts from getting to the customer.

Procure parts, construct/assemble, integrate into existing weld cells, new Poke Yoke’s from prints, start to finish.

Install all electrical and pneumatic systems on Poke Yoke’s to make it functional.

Heavy experience in all machining aspects using lathes, mills, drill presses, and all fabrication equipment.

Equipment repair thru machining and welding in both Assembly and Press.

Perform preventive maintenance on Poke yoke’s as required.

Clean and organize the area, keep the area free of clutter and safety hazards – 5S.

Be capable of welding & steel fabrication.

Adhere to all safety requirements i.e. lockout procedures, confined space, etc.

Process hourly/daily paperwork as required.

Keep updated documentation as required on all shop machinery

Ability to fabricate nets, locating pins, clamps, heads, etc.

RELATIONSHIPS/CONTACTS Reports directly to Maintenance, Operations, or Engineering Manager. Interfaces on a frequent basis with the Production, Quality, Tool & Die, Materials, Human Resources, and Engineering Departments. Also interfaces on an as-needed basis with the Information Technologies and Accounting Departments. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Journeyman certification with 5-7 yrs. experience in machining, experience with part fixtures and weld fixtures a plus.

Must possess the ability to make changes to weld equipment to optimize product dimensional integrity and equipment performance.

Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Excellent problem-solving skills such as 8D and 5 Whys.

Excellent communication skills as evidenced in colleague relations, team skills, and have the ability to interface directly with the customer to resolve issues.

Ability to work independently, self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, products, or equipment.

The colleague is regularly required to talk and hear.

The colleague is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.

The colleague is required to frequently bend, stoop and kneel.

The colleague must regularly lift and/or move up to 40pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
