Environmental Compliance Inspector III
to join our team at Union Sanitary District where we work every day to protect water quality and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
In this role, youll conduct field inspections, issue permits, investigate pollution sources, and enforce environmental standards at commercial and industrial facilities. Youll serve as a knowledgeable and professional representative of the District - helping reduce pollution at the source and safeguard our wastewater system.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspect industrial and commercial facilities for compliance with pretreatment, stormwater, and pollution prevention regulations Issue wastewater discharge permits and review compliance documentation Collect samples and evaluate discharge data Investigate and respond to illegal discharges or violations Prepare detailed reports and participate in enforcement actions Represent the District in meetings with businesses, regulators, and the public Mentor and train junior inspectors For the full position description visit: https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/unionsanitary
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
At least two years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably in wastewater or industrial pretreatment A two-year degree or equivalent coursework in environmental science, chemistry, biology, or related field Strong knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local environmental regulations Experience collecting and analyzing water or wastewater samples Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California Class C drivers license with a satisfactory driving record and insurable by the District CWEA Grade II Industrial Waste Inspector Certificate (or ability to obtain within 24 months)
