Education, Experience and Skill Requirements • Graduate of accredited medical college or university with Doctor of Medicine Degree and Texas Medical License • Valid American Board of Pathology certification in Anatomic and Forensic Pathology • Experience with courtroom testimony • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in conducting postmortem external examinations, autopsies, medical/dental examination, identification procedures; and knowledge of trauma origin, natural diseases, toxicology, serology, DNA analysis and photography. Skill in extracting blood, tissue and organ samples for analysis
Primary Job Duties • Performs or directs all postmortem examinations and autopsies, laboratory analysis, and cause of death determinations as directed under Texas Criminal Code 49.25. • Testifies in Local, State and Federal Court Proceedings as an expert medical witness as required • Preparation of reports containing examination findings; interpretation and discussion of findings with medical professionals, law enforcement personnel, district attorneys, decedents family, news media and general public
After receiving a conditional offer of employment, applicant must pass a drug screen (1/2 cost = $20.00, responsibility of applicant) and may need a physical agility test (1/2 cost = $22.50, responsibility of applicant) before becoming an employee of Montgomery County.
