As our Powerhouse Maintenance Technician, you will operate and maintain stationary engine and mechanical equipment (diesel engines, compressors, generators, motors, and turbines) to provide utilities (light, heat, and power) for buildings, mining, milling and other industrial processes to keep our production going and our profitability up. Every day you will work at a mine on a remote island about 18 miles outside of Juneau, Alaska. You'll start every job with safety first by inspecting your workplace, wearing the proper protective gear, and you will promote safety compliance in all tasks. To thrive in this role, you must be able to trouble-shoot plant electrical equipment, diagnose problems in systems, and be able to read and interpret one-line diagrams, electrical protection scheme, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and vendor service manuals. We're on a remote island, you must know how to work independently.

Here's what you can expect in this role:
Training first. Every hire is provided MSHA training in the first 4 days on the job. We also provide department-level training on not just what to do, but safety, as well. You have experience evaluating, maintaining, and repairing (low, medium, high voltage) breakers, switch gear, switch yards, motor control centers, AC & DC circuitry, electrical disconnect, transformers, lighting panels, UPS, batteries, charger, inverters and VFD's. Working on a remote island and living in a mining camp environment away from home if you are not based in Juneau. Every department is slightly different, but our electrical department works 15 days for 12.5 hours each, followed by 13 days off. You will evaluate, maintain and repair (low, medium, high voltage) breakers, switch gear, switch yards, motor control centers, AC & DC circuitry, electrical disconnect, transformers, lighting panels, HVAC UPS, batteries, charger, inverters and VFD's. You will evaluate, maintain, and repair electrical equipment & controls, relay protection schemes, electrical monitoring equipment, various operating gauges, instruments, PLC's, and alarms. You'll participate in major maintenance projects, including equipment overhauls and removal and replacement of major units and parts. Inspects and assists work of third-party contractors during major equipment repair or installation. Safety is important. You must display due diligence in safety & health, and environmental matters.
