Summary:
This position requires a Class A CDL License. The employee in this position will be responsible for transporting freight daily between one or more locations. Must be able to operate a truck with a manual transmission. The ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds is required. The work environment includes company vehicles, warehouses, and plant or production areas, with continual driving/sitting periods and occasional standing or walking. Reading and understanding information and ideas presented in writing are required. Forklift experience is a plus, but not required. Must be able to pass all DOT and insurance regulations. Pre-employment drug screening will be necessary post-offer. May be required to work in the warehouse when needed, performing other warehouse duties.
Job Functions (Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements):
The primary duties consist of (but are not limited to) the following: Follow safety rules and work procedures. Drives a 24' straight truck (capacity 10 tons) to transport materials to and from specified destinations by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads. Prepares receipts for load picked up. May maintain truck log, according to state and federal regulations. Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions. Position blocks and/or tie rope around items to secure cargo during transit. May load and unload truck; inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water; and/or perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs. Cleans work area or vehicle. Performs other duties as needed. Qualifications:
