JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for delivering clinically sound behavioral health treatment for students with emotional, behavioral, and mental health disorders. A school-based therapist will be expected to provide individual, group, and/or family psychotherapy using evidenced based practices within BCS.
**This is a grant-funded position and is projected to last five (5) years. This position is not eligible for tenure.
DUTIES:
Provide mental health and/or substance abuse counseling to children and adolescents in the K-12 education system.
Identify treatment goals and develop holistic treatment plans.
Implement evidenced-based treatment modalities to appropriately address diverse client needs.
Continually assess client progress while tailoring approaches to individual needs. Collaborate with clients' family members, caretakers, and other service providers as necessary.
Serves as a member of the Problem-Solving Team and Section 504 team. Erve as a member on the Individual Education Program (IEP) Team for students on caseload, actively participates in the IEP process to advise on developing appropriate goals and placement recommendations in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE,) and assists in the development of positive behavior intervention strategies.
Assist with the implementation of the district's Multi-Tier System of Support (MTSS), including the provision of mental health services to general education students.
Serve as a consultant to staff on the implementation of school-wide prevention and intervention programs.
Plans, coordinates, and/or develops educational interventions, behavior management, transition plans, and counseling mental health programs.
Conducts emergency student risk assessments, supports students and families, and communicates with appropriate agencies and school staff.
Works with the crisis support team to respond to emergencies.
Record and maintain records, medical documentation, and appointment schedules. Collect outcome data. Provide resources and referrals for client needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Social Work from an accredited graduate school. Licensure as a LPC, LMFT, LCSW. Experience in a public or private educational setting providing mental health-related services required.
