Your Role:
Chewy is hiring a
Software Engineer II - Back End
for our
Boston, MA
office as part of our Product Catalog Management team. You will help design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and collaborate with product managers and front-end engineers to help serve our internal collaborators and by extension, pet parents. If you’re excited to work on impactful projects, develop cutting-edge backend systems, and share our passion for pets, we’d love to hear from you!
Responsibilities:
Apply algorithms, data structures, and design patterns to produce efficient, secure and performant code
Develop, extend, and debug code within the scope of the team’s existing tools and services
Complete simple design and debug tasks
Troubleshoot root causes of and solutions for bugs and production issues
Contribute to the team’s standard processes for logging, testing, instrumentation, metrics, monitors, alerts, practices, and processes
Make meaningful contributions to the team's existing service architecture, data architecture, dev-ops, and infrastructure as code, deployment pipelines, and public cloud services as part of a software development team
Participate in on-call rotations and operational efficiency
Minimum Qualifications:
3+ years of Software Engineering experience
Experience in current core web application technologies: Kotlin, Spring, Spock/JUnit
Experience designing and integrating with RESTful APIs
Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or similar technical field of study preferred), or equivalent work experience
Preferred:
Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms
Experience with TypeScript, React and GraphQL
Experience with Docker or Kubernetes
Experience with Selenium, Cypress, Playwright or similar automated testing tools
Experience developing CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins or similar tool

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Exempt salary team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
Base Salary Range
$99,000—$184,500 USD
