MAA is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Manager of Field Maintenance (Chief Facility Maintenance Officer) within the Office of Grounds Maintenance at the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Assisting the Manager of Field Maintenance with management, oversight and responsibility for assigned functions, assets, and personnel for the section. Establishing performance goals and measures relative to all operational responsibilities and ensure they are met.

Developing program plans, maintenance standards and milestones; assigning priorities; developing policies and procedures, along with forecasting both Operating and Capital Program budget requirements to allocate available resources.

Providing direct supervision over five supervisors and indirect supervision for the Facility Maintenance Technicians.

Assisting the Manager with the responsibility of ensuring the annual airfield inspection is compliant with Federal Aviation Administration FAR Part 139 Certification of Airports.

This position is located at the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in Anne Arundel County, MD.

Qualifications

Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Eight years of experience in construction, facilities maintenance or skilled trade work. Four years of this experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Licenses & Certifications

Employees in this class are assigned duties which require the operation of motor vehicles. Employees must possess and maintain a Class C motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland. During the probationary period, the employee may be required to obtain and maintain a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), valid in the State of Maryland depending on the type of equipment operated.

Employees in this class may be required to satisfy the employing administration’s training and certification program requirements to obtain and maintain permanent status in this classification.

Maryland Aviation Administration employees assigned to the BWI Airport must obtain an MAA Airfield Operators Permit in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations 11.03.01.04, Control of Vehicular Traffic on the Air Operations Area, prior to permanent appointment.

Additional Information

Applicants may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform and supervise maintenance work on high structures and in cramped quarters in tunnels, underground and in buildings.

Employees must be willing and available for duty at such hours, day or night, as may be required in order to maintain continuous and safe operation of a facility. Employees are required to maintain a reliable communication link (telephone or beeper) at their own expense for the purpose of emergency call back requirements.

Applicants, who are considered for work at the Maryland Aviation Administration, are subject to an extensive pre-employment security background check as required by the Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Aviation Regulation Part 107.

Employees who work with or may be exposed to hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead-based paint or chromium may be required to undergo periodic medical testing, pass hazardous materials training, and have the ability to wear a respirator.

Employees in this classification are considered “Essential Employees” and may be required to sign and agree to all policies and procedures relating to “Essential Employee” status.

Candidates will be subject to pre-employment drug testing in accordance with the Transportation Code of Maryland Regulations 11.02.11, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
