This job works in a collaborative model including residents, fellows, attendings, and staff caring for hospital medicine patients across our hospital network. It operates under the supervision of the Medical Director or approved staff physician, collaborating with PCCs, staff nurses, and discharge coordinators to plan, implement, evaluate medical and nursing care, and assumes responsibility for primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization, teaching, staff development, patient education, and discharge planning.

Education

Required (NP): Masters or Doctorate degree as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

Required (PA): Bachelors degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program.

Work Experience

Required 0 years; Preferred 3 years related experience

Certifications

Required (NP): Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist by AACN or ANCC. BCLS/ACLS from the American Heart Association. Eligible for Prescriptive Authority as per state regulations.

Required (PA): Current license as a Physician Assistant in the state. NCCPA certification. BCLS/ACLS from the American Heart Association. Eligible for Prescriptive Authority as per state regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Computer skills for data entry and retrieval.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Windows applications and role-specific software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of APP policies and protocols.
  • Reliable transportation for travel between facilities.
  • Flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call.

Job Duties

  • Utilizes approved medical practices for patient care.
  • Provides care considering patient age and criteria.
  • Maintains inquiry into medical practices and outcomes, may develop research methods.
  • Provides education to patients, families, staff, and community.
  • Adapts behavior to patient population respecting privacy and communication needs.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Physical and Environmental Demands
