The incumbent works for the Division of Trauma and Injury Prevention at the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH), focusing on data analysis related to Indiana's trauma system. Reports to the Surveillance and Evaluation Director, aiming to improve trauma care through statewide data collection and analysis, including trauma registry and EMS data. Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct general analysis of trauma-related data; serve as project lead as assigned. Perform data preparation procedures including record linkage, cleaning, standardization, analysis, and interpretation. Collaborate with the Trauma System Epidemiologist to enhance data quality, accuracy, and timeliness for the Indiana Trauma Registry. Query and analyze trauma registry and EMS data for data requests in coordination with the Data Release Committee. Apply ethical, legal, and public health principles in data reporting, collection, dissemination, and use. Support database operations, ensuring data integrity, availability, and performance. Develop database system integrations using standardized design techniques. Create data collection and evaluation methodologies, including format design and project requirements. Communicate effectively with agency personnel, colleagues, and the public. Collaborate with stakeholders for best practices in data analysis and reporting. Travel may be required. Perform related duties as assigned. Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Health Data Analysis/Management, Statistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, or related; Masters preferred. Experience with SAS, R, Python, or relevant statistical software; proficiency in data cleaning, descriptive statistics, and analysis. Experience with Tableau and other visualization tools. Knowledge of epidemiological methods, study design, and data analysis. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Strong interpersonal skills for communication and collaboration. Ability to query trauma databases and interpret data requests. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to teach data submission processes and respond to stakeholder inquiries. Skills in data analysis, database design, and understanding of hardware/software capabilities. Preferred experience with healthcare databases. Proficiency in MS Office Suite. The work involves broad scope analysis, requiring judgment and discretion, with guidance from supervisors. The incumbent exercises professional judgment, manages sensitive data, and works independently on methodology and procedures, with oversight for policy compliance. Personal Relationships
