A leading provider of renewable energy solutions is seeking a Project Engineer to manage the technical execution of commercial and utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) projects from late development through pre-construction. This role is critical in ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with technical and client requirements. The Project Engineer works collaboratively with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project transition into the construction phase. Serve as the primary technical liaison between clients, subcontractors, engineering vendors, and internal teams. Manage project timelines, budgets, and scope from design through handoff. Identify, qualify, and engage third-party engineering firms; maintain and expand the approved vendor list. Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies early in project development. Optimize project milestones and deliverables to control costs and reduce delays. Lead subcontractor negotiations, focusing on scope, deliverables, and pricing. Guide the design process for PV systems; review plans for accuracy, performance, and code compliance. Utilize platforms like Procore, NetSuite, and Microsoft Office Suite for scheduling, budgeting, and document control. Monitor and report on financial metrics; recommend adjustments to maintain performance targets. Quickly respond to client and vendor inquiries to ensure alignment and satisfaction. Organize and facilitate internal and external project meetings to maintain momentum. Coordinate with utilities for grid interconnection, system upgrades, and compliance. Work with local AHJs on permitting, inspections, and code requirements. Maintain up-to-date project schedules, track delays, and recommend course corrections. Monitor subcontractor performance; recommend corrective actions to maintain productivity. Lead issue resolution processes, implementing proactive solutions for project continuity. Support project execution across all stages, from feasibility to pre-construction readiness. Perform other duties as required to support company objectives.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Alternatively, at least 8 years of relevant experience in solar, MEP design, or project execution. Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in photovoltaic or MEP engineering environments. Working knowledge of renewable energy design software and project platforms. Proficient in tools such as Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, NetSuite, and Procore. Valid driver’s license. OSHA 30 certification and PMP certification are preferred but not required.
