Fellowship of Christian Athletes The Instructional Design Specialist at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will support the development and enhancement of educational and training materials for FCA's global staff and volunteers. This position will work closely with the Instructional Design Manager and the Training Team to create effective, engaging, and biblically-sound learning experiences, such as online courses, virtual and in-person workshops and knowledge articles.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for FCA's mission, the ability to work collaboratively with others, and strong problem-solving skills. Ideally, he or she would also possess a strong background in instructional design principles and experience with adult learning.
MINISTERIAL DUTIES
These responsibilities are critical to the FCA mission, and this position plays a vital role in our ministry. FCA expects all functions and responsibilities outlined below to be carried out with a heart surrendered to serving God as a form of worship.
Agree with, and abide by, FCA's Christian Community Statement. Follow a spiritual rhythm including daily prayer and Bible study to seek the Lord's will for FCA. Lead, conduct and provide spiritual leadership for staff, volunteers, coaches and athletes through prayer, Bible study, worship and living by example so they are equipped to serve others. Connect to and participate in a local church through worship and weekly involvement. Conduct yourself in a manner that affirms biblical standards of conduct in accordance with FCA's Christian beliefs (see FCA's Christian Community Statement) at all times.
Role Responsibilities
Instructional Design:
Take the lead in designing and developing training programs and supplemental materials, including online courses, webinars, and knowledge articles that support FCA's mission and ministry. Work with the Instructional Design Manager to ensure training materials are biblically aligned, relevant, and accessible to FCA's global audience. Design and develop materials for both new and existing training programs, ensuring they meet the specific learning needs of the audience.
Collaboration & Teamwork:
Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) within FCA to translate their knowledge and expertise into learning objectives and draft effective training modules. Work alongside the Training Team to steward their drafted material towards a final product. Champion training evaluation to improve the design and delivery of current and future training programs and resources.
Technology Integration:
Support the implementation of the Learning Management System (LMS) and ensure instructional content is well organized and maintained. Utilize eLearning software to produce multimedia-rich training programs and resources. Stay up to date on trends in instructional technology and help innovate FCA's training delivery.
Evaluation & Reporting:
Develop and implement formal training evaluation using the Kirkpatrick Model of Training Evaluation. Assess training participants to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs (Levels 1, 2, and 3 of the Kirkpatrick Model). Analyze learning data and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for future improvements (Level 4 of the Kirkpatrick Model).
Continuous Learning:
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay up to date on instructional design best practices, particularly in the context of non-profit and/or ministry environments.
