Job Title: Special Events Associate Location: Franciscan Center Baltimore, MD Job Type: Full-Time Reports To: Director of Development and Community Engagement Salary Range:$22 to $30 per hour.This is a 40 hour per week position. About the Franciscan Center: Founded in 1968 in north Baltimore's Old Goucher neighborhood, the Franciscan Center is an innovative hub serving the city's working poor, indigent, and homeless, helping them to realize their self-worth and dignity as people of God. The Center's three focus areas are nutrition, connection, and education. Staff and volunteers prepare scratch-made lunches (M-F) and dinners (T-W), manage an emergency food pantry, and help guests and clients secure identification, clothing, housing, and employment--all the elements necessary to live a more self-sustaining life. In 2021, the Center founded the Dignity Plates Culinary Academy, a no-cost, 13-week training program to prepare city residents for careers in the restaurant and hospitality industry. That same year, Dignity Plates Catering, a social enterprise, was founded to provide employment and spread the good news about good food. The Special Events Associate will work with the Director of Development & Community Engagement and Executive Director to generate and lead a plan to increase awareness and resources for our center through carefully curated events for our supporters as well as for our guest and clients. Responsibilities: ·Organize, implement, and supervise all aspects of events. This includes regular correspondence with all parties involved to discuss planning and logistics, walkthroughs, execution of contracts and payment, daytime/evening event facilitation. ·In conjunction with all internal departments, assist with planning of internal programming and cultivation events. ·Develop and execute a plan to maximize private events income by actively marketing our center and our events. ·Serve as the site manager for the duration of most events, including evenings and weekends; ·Oversee and participate in event setup/breakdown; ·Foster and maintain relationships with vendors; ·Communicate with staff to assist with scheduling and to troubleshoot and ensure that all aspects of events are supported; ·Maintain accurate budget and reconcile all income and expenses with accounting staff; ·Attend to all other duties as assigned. ·Establish relationships with community partners and individuals that help expand the Center’s connections. ·Create a group sales marketing plan to promote the Center to a wider audience; ·Work with our volunteer coordinator to create a group of volunteers who can help you with hosting events. Qualifications: ·3-5 years of experience in the events management/ sales field required; ·High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required, bachelor’s degree preferred; ·A passion to serve your community ·Excellent customer service and communications skills; ·Working knowledge of business office applications including email, word processing, spreadsheet and database applications preferred; ·Required to work weekends and evening events; ·Moderate physical activity.
