Job Title: Director of Design The primary function of this role is to provide managerial support nationwide to the Sprinkler Designers. The goal is to grow revenues of Sprinkler Operations while maintaining profits, satisfying customer requirements, and ensuring compliance with NFPA guidelines. This position reports to the CEO/President and collaborates closely with the Sprinkler Design Technical Manager, Sprinkler Design, and Blueprint room staff.
This role requires the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with a focus on administration, organization, reporting, data management, and customer service.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities: Manage designer schedules and contract deliverables. Develop S.A. Comunale BIM standards. Interface with Project Managers to review design vs. labor deficiencies. Schedule projects daily. Develop start and completion dates for designers and monitor progress. Coordinate with customers on job-specific requirements. Conduct weekly/monthly reviews of all designers with the technical manager. Oversee current Branch Level Design Managers. Develop design/fabrication standards to increase efficiency in the fabrication shop. Organize continuing education seminars with design staff. Coordinate with S.A. Comunale design training programs. Visit branch offices and job sites with design staff. Participate in NFSA committees. Attend group functions with other contractors to exchange ideas.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. 15+ years of construction design experience. 5+ years in a management role. Understanding of AutoCAD, AutoSprink, and Hydratec systems is a plus. Experience with Navisworks and basic Revit knowledge is a plus. BIM experience is required. NICET Level III Certification and knowledge of NFPA guidelines are advantageous. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. Willingness to travel. P.E. License is a plus.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Required Attributes: Problem-solving skills. Strategic thinking and decision-making. Ability to build positive relationships and demonstrate integrity. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and in teams. Adherence to company policies and procedures.
