Position Summary

The nursing support staff performs routine administrative and patient care support duties in a behavioral health and primary care practice to assist in the examination and treatment of patients and contribute to a positive patient experience and healthy work.

$2,000 sign-on bonus for any new FULL TIME CMA - 1-year commitment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: • Supports and adheres to the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values. • Performs triage activities, rooming patients for providers, venipunctures, and updates EMR as directed for each patient according to FHC policy. • Telephone Interactions: As directed, completing necessary telephone communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and/or other health care facilities. • Administrative tasks including, but not limited to, telephone interactions with patients, families, pharmacies, and/or others as necessary for the care of the patient, patient check in or check out, prior authorizations, scheduling appointment, verification of benefits, and coordination of referrals and testing. • Office procedures as directed and per department specific competencies. Maintain clean and stocked office, as directed. • Provide patient with written instructions regarding procedures, medications, or follow up instructions at the direction of the provider. • Administer medications per the provider order. • Provide assistance with prescription medication refills per department protocols. Working with pharmacies for medication refills and prior authorization of medications, notify patients of refills, and documents actions within the EMR per provider orders. • Maintain department specific competencies related to point of care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training. • Performs other duties as assigned.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Mental: Demonstrates knowledge of the physical and psychosocial needs of the patient population. Must exhibit communication skills, and ability to work with providers as well as other members of the multi-disciplinary treatment team. Ability to interpret written and verbal orders by the providers.

Physical: Occasionally lifts, pushes and transfers patients. Lifts supplies and large equipment. Manual dexterity and mobility. Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching. Visual acuity for reading thermometers and equipment and for recording in the electronic medical record. Must be able to hear sufficiently to perform routine physical examinations. Must have the capability to drive.

Skill: Must be able to communicate effectively. Must have ability to use patient care equipment. Must have ability to work with computers. The outpatient nurse must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide the appropriate treatment, care, and services for the clients they will serve.

Working Conditions: Works in a clean, well-lighted office.
