Sound Designer, Contract
Location:
San Diego, CA – onsite San Diego Studio is seeking an experienced, talented, and creative interactive sound designer for a long-term contract. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating high-quality audio content for our interactive sports title, MLB: The Show. Responsibilities: Create and deliver original, authentic, and immersive audio content for gameplay, including sound design, sound effects, and Foley. Implement audio assets using middleware and scripting tools. Design and mix linear cinematic and UI audio components. Collaborate with the SDS audio team to deliver a cohesive and compelling audio experience. Required Skills and Qualifications: Technical: At least 2 years of experience as a Sound Designer for video games, with 1+ shipped titles. Proficiency with editing and mixing techniques, processes, and tools for interactive sound design and linear post-production. Demonstrable proficiency with DAWs such as ProTools, Reaper, etc. Experience with professional audio editing tools like iZotope RX and DSP plugins. Experience implementing audio in middleware, including Wwise, FMOD, Unreal Engine, or Sony Scream. Ability to create high-quality, original audio assets using Foley, field, and studio recordings. Experience with database entry (Excel, Jira) and version control (Perforce). Personal: A passion for audio, gaming, and innovation; proactive, creative, and collaborative with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Genuine interest in sports, especially baseball, to align with the project and team culture. Ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines. Ownership and initiative in design responsibilities. Additional valuable qualifications: Experience with sports game or broadcast audio, athletic background, or sports knowledge. Experience with surround sound formats (5.1, 7.1), immersive and spatial audio formats like Dolby Atmos, Ambisonics, or binaural audio.
