King County Parks is growing a public lands legacy, with open space conservation and forest stewardship at the heart of our work. The Environmental Policy & Initiatives Section includes the Open Space Program, Forest Stewardship Program, and Parks Levy management and administration. Our team leads efforts to plan, conserve, activate, and steward public open space that enhances our regions quality of life. We also ensure that the agency is effectively delivering King Countys Parks Levy, as well as contributing to ambitious county-wide goals identified in the Land Conservation Initiative, 30-Year Forest Plan, Clean Water Healthy Habitat initiative, and Strategic Climate Action Plan. This position will work closely with the EPI section manager and team leads (Open Space, Forestry, and Levy delivery) to provide specific administrative, data management, technical support and communication duties. About the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Section:
The Parks Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Section provides strategic direction, oversight, and delivery of capital projects. It includes planning, designing, developing, and implementing Parks capital portfolio of projects and programs, performing comprehensive capital project management of major repair/renovation projects/programs, regional trail development and improvements, and other capital improvements within the park and open space system while also stewarding all of the assets and managing the asset data within King Countys 32,000-acre system of parks and trails. What You Will Be Doing
: Logistic and administrative support : Manage meeting logistics and support for both internal and external events and processes (e.g., Parks Levy Oversight Board, project-based community meetings, internal project review meetings, etc.). Prepare meeting agenda, manage scheduling, prepare presentation materials, take notes and other support action items, as needed. Order supplies, equipment, and other services to support program work. Identify opportunities for process improvements and develop new administrative processes or enhance existing ones to streamline operations.
Program communications : Draft correspondence on behalf of program and project managers. Prepare and send bulk mailings to landowners and members of the public as needed for notification and outreach. Compose, draft, type, proofread, and edit documents and standard operating procedures. Help maintain online content including SharePoint sites, Outlook groups, and shared e-mail inboxes.
Program data and files management and project support : Track, enter, analyze, and communicate data related to projects and programs (e.g., acquisitions, property inventory, etc.). Support file management practices (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, records management). Support project needs and regulatory requirements through tracking public correspondence, performing public mailings, document recording, ordering signs, and process tracking, and printing (SEPA, permitting, certified mailings). Represent the section on various division-wide or county-wide committees.
Billing, purchasing, and accounting processes : Support invoice processing and vendor payments. Prepare forms required for personnel transactions, requisition forms, purchase orders, and expense reports. Track and manage section purchasing and registration, which may include supplies, equipment, and license and subscription renewals. Qualifications You Bring
: At least 3 years of progressive, office experience providing administrative, technical, clerical and customer service support functions in a fast-paced team environment. Experience developing and implementing systems to improve administrative processes. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Microsoft SharePoint, and ability to understand and learn additional software systems. Strong organizational skills and experience working in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, to clarify and manage expectations, resolve problems, and build trust. Experience in purchasing, reconciling financial expenses, and processing invoices. Experience providing skilled support for public meetings and internal workshops, including scheduling, coordination, communication, material preparation, taking meeting minutes, and supporting follow-up actions. Experience managing data in a timely, efficient, and effective way. Competencies You Bring

Familiarity with parks and recreation industry and best practices. Experience with Unifier. Experience with Arc GIS. Experience with Microsoft Visio.
