The Associate Communications Engineer will design, plan, review, and inspect Public Safety Radio Communication Equipment, Technologies, Infrastructure, Emergency Response, Command & Control, Interoperable Communications, and Support for 700/800 MHz, VHF, UHF, IP/MPLS wireless communications systems. Responsibilities include designing and implementing communications hardware and components; researching and recommending technical operation standards; writing specifications; assisting in on-site inspections; monitoring compliance with wireless regulations; performing project functions; preparing documentation; and other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, Communications/Network Engineering, or a related field, or a valid Certification as a Telecommunications Junior Engineer issued by iNARTE. Three years of professional experience with multi-site/multi-frequency radio systems and/or large backhaul networks. Valid California Class C Driver License. Additional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. City employees using Out-of-Class Assignment experience must provide documentation. Highly Desirable Certifications and Knowledge
FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License. CCNA certification. Knowledge of RF/microwave systems and networking. Additional Information
