The individual's primary responsibility is to ensure the availability of purchased parts, components, assemblies and services to satisfy Customer Orders. The role requires a self-motivated, positive, individual with very strong tactical abilities, an eagerness to learn and a significant sense of urgency, willing and able to interact at all levels of the organization. As a Buyer 2, this role will engage with engineering on NPD and VA/VE activities as well as lead domestic sourcing projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Create, process, and track purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery with vendor follow-up Complete the required daily routine of MRP actions and associated analysis, problem solving, and reporting to maintain timely flow of purchased material and communication regarding delivery dates, including the review of inventory levels, buffer stock, customer orders, etc. Maintain accurate system data for all purchase parameters including lead-times, price, lot sizes, minimums, and multiples. Actively seek alternate sources or substitutions to proactively solve material availability issues while seeking to optimize lead-time, price, and inventory investment. Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with suppliers to drive a favorable total cost solution Proactively manage suppliers and shipments to optimize freight consolidation program. Develops close working relationships will all suppliers. Be the point person for supplier's commercial and/or technical questions and requests. Execute new supply chain cost savings project on schedule, providing regular updates to management as needed. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department and organization as required. Provides Phase In/Phase Out planning for new product introductions with regard to demand planning, material planning, inventory ramp-up (or ramp-down) for optimal consumption of working capital investment. Works with Engineering on NPD and VA/VE activities to ensure best cost and quality for product launches and changes. Leads Sourcing activities for Domestic Suppliers to find better cost, quality and delivery to meet business needs. Work cross functionally with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Receiving, Finance, Sales and Customer Service to share information on current business issues and meet company demands. Conform to all ISO 9001 policies and procedures, Company Code of Ethics, and Company Purchasing Policies. Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications / Requirements: Experience in purchasing/materials/supply chain management/procurement. Bachelor's Degree - Procurement, Logistics, Business, Engineering or related field Professional certification CPSM, CPM, CPIM, CIRM (preferred). Experience, or knowledge of, ERP/MRP/MRP II systems (Oracle preferred). Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Ability and willingness to work in a global environment comprised of both domestic and off-shore suppliers. Experience or education with Kanban systems and other lean manufacturing techniques. Travel
