We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Application Systems Analyst to join our WaFd Bank Technology team. This role is crucial designing, implementing, and maintaining applications that support our banking operations and ensure efficiency, security, and compliance. The person in this role will serve as a subject matter expert for the assigned application(s) and a strategic partner with WaFd’s business lines and Business Systems Analysts to bridge the gap between business needs and technology solutions.

The Application System Analyst will be responsible for maintaining existing applications, deploying and becoming an expert on new applications, understanding business requirements, designing and implementing application configurations, and ensuring alignment of technical solutions with strategic business objectives. The Application Systems Analyst will collaborate with vendors and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions tailored to the financial industry.

Successful Application Systems Analyst must

Lead by example. Develop productive relationships with business and technical leaders across WaFd. Assist the manager in optimizing operational effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency. Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by delivering excellent service.

Key Functions

Application Design, Development & Support Partner with IT teams to design and optimize banking applications, including core banking systems, deposit platforms, loan processing platforms, document management platforms, file transmission, ITSM platforms and payment gateways to meet client specifications. Provide daily operational support to maintain system uptime and meet business needs. Analyze and gather requirements to perform application configurations that meet stakeholder needs. Participate in application installations, upgrades, and integrations. Troubleshoot technical issues, perform root-cause analysis, and provide timely resolutions. Provide post-deployment support to ensure seamless operations. Identify and resolve technical issues to minimize downtime and enhance system reliability. Analyze customer feedback and transaction data to identify opportunities for improved functionality. Technical Consultation Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and technical challenges. Provide expert guidance on product capabilities and recommend solutions that align with customer needs. System Integration Collaborate with IT teams and third-party vendors to integrate new banking technologies with existing infrastructure. Understanding of data exchange between core systems, customer-facing platforms, and back-office applications. Collaboration & Communication Act as a technical liaison between IT, business units, and external partners to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Provide regular updates on application performance and project milestones to stakeholders. Partner with vendors to drive operational and organizational needs. Monitor and react appropriately to vendor alerts and publications. May lead meetings as scrum master for smaller projects outside of the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) scope. Training & Documentation Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, user guides, and support materials. Train end-users and internal teams on new applications and systems upgrades. Deliver Exceptional Service Know the company’s technology, financial products, regulatory climate, and functionality needs and use them to support business units in improving their products and services. Maintain knowledge of Bank systems and processes to help with technical needs, projects, and audits. Model integrity and professionalism, including personal appearance and conduct, banking industry knowledge, customer service and interpersonal skills, and value or needs-based selling techniques. Ensure integrated, cross-departmental requirements planning for products, compliance, information, and functionality across departments efficiently to minimize the impact on business stakeholders. Maintain relationships across the Company and develop a basic working knowledge of functional roles to support problem resolution and quality service delivery. Protect WaFd Bank’s Interests Manage daily operations, monitor applications' health, escalate/resolve issues, and ensure assigned work (i.e., general support, project, or product team) is completed promptly. Utilize Agile methodology to track, monitor, and prioritize assigned work. Complete and pass all assigned eLearning courses. Avoid real or perceived conflicts of interest and maintain client privacy and confidentiality. Adhere to bank policies and procedures designed to comply with Federal regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC regulations. Train and support the team with product, technology, and operational knowledge.' Other duties as assigned

Education/Skills/Training

Experience in administering CCaaS (Contact Center as a Service) and SaaS applications (i.e. JSM, Jira, Atlassian Cloud, TalkDesk, Azure DevOps, etc.). Familiarity API integrations. Understanding of banking regulations and compliance requirements. Experience with cloud-based banking solutions and platforms Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to share knowledge with colleagues. Ability to solve problems, handle complex and confidential information, and work cross-functionally. Knowledge of bank systems, including operating and network systems, with a strong desire to learn more about these systems and other technologies. Analytical skills to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and decompose high-level information into details. Listening skills, understanding what people say, probing when appropriate, and helping them articulate their needs. Must be team-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
