Position Summary This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of LBMC. The employee will support LBMC's strategic plan and demonstrates active support and participation in Lean initiatives for continuous performance improvement, patient safety and patient-centered care. The Assistant Unit Manager (AUM) is responsible for operational issues of the patient care department during their assigned shift. The AUM is responsible for directing and coordinating all operations of the department according to policies, procedures, standards and standard work that guide the processes for the assigned department. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individuals and processes to ensure high-quality, cost-effective patient care. The AUM manages material and labor resources as defined in the departmental annual budget. The success of the department depends on positive, professional communication with patients, families, physicians, staff, and interdepartmental teams to optimize workflow and resolve issues. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job Models an interdisciplinary approach and collaborates with physician partners to achieve operational efficiency. Supports MemorialCare initiatives and promotes the advancement of nursing. Fosters employee engagement, loyalty, and leadership. Creates a supportive and healthy work environment through clinical and administrative leadership. Embraces a Lean mindset and utilizes the PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) model for performance improvement. Promotes a culture of safety by assessing risks, applying interventions, and evaluating outcomes. Ensures service excellence and enhances the Patient and Family Experience. Achieves financial targets through daily management activities. Supports organizational growth and excellence initiatives. Demonstrates active support for nursing excellence and performs other duties as assigned. *Placement in the pay range is based on factors including experience and qualifications.
