Touch/Force Hardware - Sensor System Architect
Cupertino, California, United States Description
The key focus areas for the team include: Architecting the entire sensor system for each product—defining key figures of merit, setting specifications, and authoring requirements specifications for the entire sensor-system-tree to guarantee the customer experience. Building comprehensive sensor models that capture the entire signal chain—physical, electrical, and algorithmic—to streamline algorithm prototyping and guarantee performance in high-volume production. Performing first-principles physical modeling and analysis to better understand design tradeoffs in sensor designs and to identify optimal solutions efficiently. Co-architecting and assessing design tradeoffs with partner teams such as display, wireless charging, and product design to ensure optimal overall product performance. Identifying novel sensing architectures and opportunities to significantly enhance performance. Minimum Qualifications
B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields, with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience. Preferred Qualifications
Deep understanding of electrical engineering, transducer physics, and system engineering. Experience modeling, building, and testing complex multi-physics systems. Proficiency in MATLAB and COMSOL or similar packages. Ability to clarify ambiguous design spaces, independently resolve technical issues, and coordinate efforts across teams. Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. Knowledge of signal processing techniques, both analog and digital. Understanding of linear algebra, probability, and statistics. Familiarity with software architecture best practices for complex tool flows. Note: The salary range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple offers comprehensive benefits, including medical and dental coverage, retirement plans, employee stock programs, educational reimbursement, and more. Eligibility for certain benefits depends on specific criteria. Apple is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
