Chapter Executive Director Employment Type: Full-time, In Office Salary Range: $80,000-$95,000 annually, commensurate with experience Benefits: Comprehensive health coverage, pension, retirement plan, paid vacation, professional development support, and more Position Overview: The Southeastern MI Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association is growing and seeking a strategic and dynamic Associate Director – Outreach, Advocacy and Labor Relations to lead the chapter’s engagement with key industry stakeholders, contractor education, and membership development. This role is ideal for a highly motivated individual who excels in communication, project development and management, and thrives in a collaborative, small-team environment.The ideal candidate will take ownership of their responsibilities while building leadership experience, industry knowledge, and professional relationships within the unionized electrical construction sector. SMC NECA is a member-focused organization with a proud history.As part of a cross-trained team, staff members contribute to multiple areas of chapter operations and support, requiring flexibility, initiative, and a commitment to service. Primary Responsibilities: This position plays a vital role in supporting the policies, programs, and partnerships that advance the unionized electrical construction industry.The primary areas of responsibility include: Advocacy: Represent SMC NECA’s interest in local, state, and federal policy discussions Build and maintain strong working relationships with elected officials, industry stakeholders, and regulatory agencies Monitor, analyze, and respond to legislation and regulations that impact electrical contractors Draft legislative updates, position statements, and testimony on behalf of the chapter. Education: Coordinate and manage educational programming for contractor members Identify emerging industry needs and organize continuing education efforts Collaborate with training partners to deliver timely, relevant content Labor Relations: Support labor-management initiatives and ongoing collaboration with IBEW Local 58 Assist with preparation for and in collective bargaining Support administration and interpretation of labor agreements Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education/experience Familiarity with the construction trades or unionized industries is strongly preferred. Prior experience in advocacy, education, or labor relations is preferred Ability to work independently and as part of a small, cross-functional team Willingness to travel occasionally for meetings and attend periodic evening/weekend events – 20%. 3-7 years of experience Excellent communication, networking, and relationship-building skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent) Experience with QuickBooks or basic financial processes is a plus Exceptional candidates who do not meet all the qualifications are still encouraged to apply.
