As a millimeter-wave IC design engineer, you will provide circuit and system solutions for multi-gigabit wireless chips. Description As a mmWave Design Engineer at Apple, you will leverage your extensive circuit design background to develop mmWave solutions for wireless chips. Your responsibilities include:
Collaborating with platform architects, system engineers, and digital design groups to define requirements for mmWave phased-array front-end and baseband blocks based on product needs.
Working with the technology team and foundries on process evaluation and selection for the target device.
Designing transceiver blocks in Rx/Tx signal paths, PLL, and LO generation.
Partnering with design, layout, and chip integration teams to integrate IPs and verify top-level functionality and performance.
Collaborating with mmWave test engineers to bring up and characterize chips.
Minimum Qualifications
Deep understanding of RFIC fundamentals and experience with at least one of the following blocks: LNA, mixer, variable gain amplifier, combiners, driver amplifiers, power amplifiers, VCOs or DCOs, PLLs, frequency dividers, BBF.
Knowledge of bias circuits and op-amp designs.
Experience with mmWave, RF, and analog integrated circuit design, including mmWave CMOS circuits.
Familiarity with RF system analysis and translating system requirements into circuit requirements.
Understanding of RF transceiver architectures and trade-offs.
Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant proven experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in designing lumped and distributed passive structures such as CPW lines, inductors, and capacitors.
Proven experience in RF/mmWave circuit design, including amplifiers, mixers, and oscillators.
Understanding of CMOS processes, device fundamentals, and modeling.
Proficiency with design tools like Cadence, Spectre, AMS, GoldenGate, AFS, ADS, EMX, and others.
Knowledge of mmWave device modeling, packaging effects, antenna arrays, and high-frequency circuit layout.
Hands-on experience in high-frequency silicon characterization and debugging.
Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field, with 10+ years of experience preferred.
