Job Description Job Summary:
Genesis Consulting is seeking a Data Analyst with deep expertise in operational reporting, performance metrics, and dynamic dashboard development. This role will directly support a district-wide strategic initiative aimed at modernizing IT operations, enhancing transparency, and improving data-informed decision-making across the organization.
As a key member of the transformation team, the analyst will work closely with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to design, build, and maintain actionable reports and dashboards that align with KPIs, compliance metrics, and operational needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker to track project performance, funding utilization, and program KPIs.
· Design and deliver standardized operational and executive-level reports that provide actionable insights to internal teams and senior leadership.
· Partner with IT, finance, and program teams to gather requirements, validate data sources, and translate business needs into reporting solutions.
· Support the development of reporting templates and frameworks to streamline regular data sharing and improve cross-team visibility.
· Identify opportunities to automate and centralize reporting workflows and reduce reliance on manual data entry.
· Ensure data integrity by implementing and enforcing data validation, documentation, and change control procedures.
· Contribute to a broader data-driven governance model by supporting performance tracking, compliance monitoring, and strategic roadmap execution.
· Provide ad hoc analysis and insights to support decision-making, risk management, and continuous improvement.
RequirementsMinimum
Qualifications/Experience:
· 3–5+ years of experience in a data analyst, business intelligence, or reporting analyst role.
· Proven experience designing interactive dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar.
· Strong proficiency in SQL, Excel, and working with large, complex data sets across multiple systems.
· Familiarity with project management data, financial tracking, and performance KPIs in an IT or public sector environment is strongly preferred.
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings to non-technical stakeholders and executive audiences.
· Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and an aptitude for creating user-friendly, scalable reporting tools.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Information Systems or related field.
Required Certifications:
Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), Lean Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt, Agile or Scrum Certifications preferred.
Other:
· Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
· Candidates must be able to be onsite in New York, NY as needed.
