Position Summary St. Andrew Nativity School is in search of a mission-driven, detail-oriented, and strategic leader to assume the role of Director of Finance and Operations. This position is pivotal in the effective stewardship of the school’s financial resources and operational infrastructure, ensuring the sustainability and effectiveness of the Jesuit mission. The Director of Finance and Operations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of finance, human resources, operations, facilities, food services, IT, and risk management. This individual manages relationships with key service providers, including the school’s third-party bookkeeper, HR consulting firm, IT provider, and benefits partners. Additionally, the Director supervises internal support staff, including the Facilities & Operations Assistant and meal program staff. This position reports to and collaborates closely with the President, contributing to school-wide strategic planning, resource alignment, and long-term organizational development. The Director regularly prepares and presents financial and operational updates to the Board of Trustees, the Finance Committee, and other Board committees as necessary. They are responsible for organizing and streamlining internal and external financial and operational procedures and documentation to promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency across the institution. Furthermore, the Director collaborates with the Executive Assistant for Mission and Strategic Operations to ensure seamless coordination of staffing, onboarding, and cross-functional planning. Key Responsibilities Strategic Financial Leadership Lead annual budgeting, multi-year forecasting, and long-term financial planning in partnership with the President and Finance Committee. Prepare monthly financial statements and reports; deliver presentations to the Board of Trustees and committees to support strategic decision-making. Serve as the primary liaison to auditors; lead the annual audit process. Monitor cash flow, manage banking and investment accounts, and maintain internal controls. Ensure GAAP compliance and nonprofit financial reporting standards. Track and report on restricted funds, grants, and endowment income in collaboration with development staff. Provide timely and actionable financial data to support leadership planning. Accounting and Business Office Oversight Manage the relationship with the school’s third-party bookkeeper to ensure timely and accurate execution of accounts payable, receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and journal entries. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records and reports. Organize and streamline internal and external financial workflows, policies, and documentation. Oversee payroll processing and review in partnership with the bookkeeper and HR team. Maintain financial procedures, internal controls, and audit documentation. Maintain an annual calendar of operational and compliance deadlines. Human Resources Serve as the school’s primary HR administrator, overseeing all personnel policies, employment practices, and HR compliance. Oversee benefit plan administration and compliance in partnership with Hub International; collaborate with the Executive Assistant for Mission and Strategic Operations to coordinate staff enrollment, communication, and open enrollment support. Manage processes for letters of intent, contracts, compensation changes, and policy updates. Oversee 403(b) retirement plan management and compliance. Ensure complete and compliant personnel files for all employees. Collaborate with the President, Leadership Team, and Executive Assistant for Mission and Strategic Operations on hiring, onboarding, evaluations, and internal HR communication. Consult legal counsel and external HR advisors as needed. Facilities and Campus Operations Supervise the Facilities & Operations Assistant and manage daily campus operations. Serve as liaison with the parish regarding facility usage and maintenance. Lead or support capital project planning and execution, including permitting, contractor coordination, and compliance. Ensure implementation of safety protocols, risk management practices, and emergency preparedness plans. Manage vendor contracts for janitorial, maintenance, and infrastructure services. Information Technology Oversee the relationship with the school’s IT provider; ensure reliable technology infrastructure. Support the management of hardware and software lifecycles, network reliability, and cybersecurity. Ensure technology systems support both instructional and administrative functions. Lead efforts to streamline internal communication, planning systems, and tech operations. Meal Program Oversight Supervise meal program staff and oversee school breakfast and lunch operations. Ensure compliance with state and federal child nutrition program regulations; track participation, budgeting, and reimbursement. Risk Management, Policy, and Compliance Maintain compliance calendars for all operational areas including finance, HR, facilities, and regulatory filings. Develop and maintain internal financial, HR, and operational policies in collaboration with school leadership. Manage insurance coverage, vendor agreements, and liability planning. Coordinate emergency response planning and crisis protocols across campus teams. Collaborate with legal and compliance advisors as needed to support risk mitigation and policy development. Organizational Culture and Equity Serve as a collaborative and mission-aligned leader committed to equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism in all financial and operational practices. Foster a culture of transparency, proactive problem-solving, and shared ownership. Collaborate closely with the Executive Assistant for Mission and Strategic Operations, President, and other leadership team members to ensure internal systems, communications, and policies reflect the mission and operational integrity of the school. Model relational leadership that supports a positive staff culture and healthy organizational climate. Incorporate an equity lens into vendor selection, compensation analysis, and policy development. Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required. CPA:

or equivalent financial credential strongly preferred. Experience:

Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership in nonprofit or school finance and operations. Audit Management:

Experience managing audits, budgeting processes, and reporting to boards or finance committees. Team Management:

Experience managing people and internal teams. Knowledge:

Knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and nonprofit compliance. Proficiency:

Proficiency with accounting software, Excel, and cloud-based financial systems. Skills:

Strong vendor management and project leadership skills. Executive Support:

Experience supporting executive teams and board governance preferred. Discretion:
