migration/integration

quality analyst who shares our commitment to leveraging technology to make a real impact in the world – a professional who knows, beyond all else, that the quality of our products and services is only as good as the company we keep. Job Summary

: This individual will work in team of Quality Assurance Analysts and is responsible for planning and conducting a wide range of quality assurance tasks, specifically targeted at validating accuracy of data migration and integration points. This activity includes analyzing requirements, test planning and strategy, developing and executing tests, evaluating results and reporting, and promoting organizational and product integrity. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft SQL server.

Responsibilities

: Data Migration Planning Develop and execute migration strategies from legacy to new systems:

This requires a deep understanding of both the source and target systems. The specialist must determine the most efficient and effective method for transferring data, considering factors such as data volume, complexity, and downtime requirements. Strategies may include phased migrations, parallel runs, or big-bang approaches. Identify risks, milestones, and quality checkpoints:

Proactive risk management is essential for successful data migration. The specialist must identify potential challenges, such as data corruption, system outages, or compatibility issues, and develop mitigation plans. Defining clear milestones and quality checkpoints allows for progress tracking and ensures that the migration stays on schedule and within budget.

Data Analysis & Mapping Analyze source and target systems for compatibility:

This involves a detailed examination of the data structures, data types, and data formats of both the source and target systems. The specialist must identify any incompatibilities and develop strategies for resolving them. Perform data profiling and mapping to ensure accurate transformation:

Data profiling involves analyzing the data in the source system to understand its characteristics, such as data quality, completeness, and distribution. Data mapping involves defining the relationships between the source and target data elements, specifying how the data will be transformed during the migration process. Resolve discrepancies and ensure data integrity:

The specialist must identify and resolve any discrepancies, ensuring that the migrated data is accurate, complete, and consistent. This may involve data cleansing, data validation, and data reconciliation.

ETL Process Oversight Validate Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) workflows:

This involves validating the ETL processes that will extract data from the source system, transform it into the required format, and load it into the target system.

Quality Assurance & Validation Develop test plans to verify data accuracy post-migration:

The specialist must develop test plans that will verify the accuracy of the migrated data. These test plans should cover all critical data elements and should be designed to detect any errors or inconsistencies. Conduct audits, reconciliations, and exception reporting:

Audits involve reviewing the migrated data to ensure that it meets the defined quality standards. Reconciliations involve comparing the data in the source and target systems to ensure that they are consistent. Exception reporting involves identifying and reporting any errors or inconsistencies that are found during the audit or reconciliation process. Benchmark pre- and post-migration data for consistency:

Benchmarking involves comparing the data in the source and target systems after and after the migration. This helps to identify any changes in data quality or performance that may have occurred during the migration process.

Documentation & Reporting Maintain detailed records of migration processes and outcomes:

The specialist must maintain detailed records of all aspects of the migration process, including the migration strategy, the data mapping, the ETL processes, and the test results. This documentation will be invaluable for future reference and for troubleshooting any issues that may arise. Create technical documentation for future reference:

This includes documenting the data structures, data types, and data formats of both the source and target systems, as well as the transformation logic that was used during the ETL process. Report progress and challenges to project stakeholders:

Regular progress reports should be provided to project stakeholders, highlighting key milestones, challenges encountered, and mitigation strategies employed. This ensures that stakeholders are kept informed and can provide timely feedback and support.

Compliance & Security Ensure adherence to data governance and privacy regulations:

The specialist must ensure that the migration process complies with all relevant data governance and privacy regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA. Implement secure data handling and encryption protocols:

Secure data handling and encryption protocols must be implemented to protect the data during the migration process. This includes encrypting the data in transit and at rest, as well as implementing access controls to prevent unauthorized access.
