General Summary & Scope The General Manager (GM) is responsible for leading through Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values to develop a high-performing team that consistently delivers top-line sales growth for the store. The GM leads a team of managers and is accountable for all aspects of managing a single retail store, including the salon. This leader drives the store’s business through a focus on performance (sales, service, and expense control), people (talent acquisition, training, and development), and process (standard operating procedures and compliance standards). This position requires a passion for process excellence, a drive for results, and the ability to lead, influence, and develop their team. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The GM is a champion of Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, demonstrating them skillfully and consistently through the following duties: Performance Promote a culture of accountability to meet or exceed Ulta Beauty’s goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, payroll, omni-channel, and retail shrink. Drive company profitability through operational excellence, top-line sales growth, and expense control. Leverage store forecast and payroll budgets for scheduling to maximize productivity and meet sales and payroll goals. Address issues identified through financial reports, store visits, and audits to meet Ulta Beauty’s goals and drive profitability. Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience. Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests. Maintain prompt attendance and hold all store associates accountable to attendance policies. People Attract, hire, and retain diverse top talent, and address staffing needs efficiently. Address policy violations with appropriate corrective actions. Build an engaged team that embodies the Ulta Beauty brand through collaboration and communication. Create an inclusive environment that encourages growth and engagement. Lead development initiatives including training, coaching, performance reviews, and succession planning. Participate in ongoing training to enable continuous professional development. Share enterprise strategy with direct reports and create aligned goals. Promote teamwork by working alongside the management team and establishing priorities. Execute the Guest Engagement Leader program effectively to drive business results. Process Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards. Enforce dress code and utilize scheduling and task management tools properly. Protect assets and minimize loss through adherence to standards. Manage inventory control processes and support continuous improvement initiatives. Communicate regularly with field leadership regarding business trends and operational challenges. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education Bachelor’s degree preferred Experience 3-5+ years in fast-paced retail management or relevant experience Proven success in financial management, retail operations, and leadership Skills Proficiency with technology and excellent communication skills Strong organizational, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change Position Requirements Flexible full-time schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays Availability to close the store once a week Travel for meetings and conferences, valid ID required Working Conditions Frequent use of computers and mobility within the store Physical activities including lifting up to 25 lbs, bending, and walking The pay range is $83,200 - $112,320 annually, with potential bonuses.
