POSITION OVERVIEW:

At Mamatoto Village, we see graphic design as visual storytelling that engages, informs, and inspires. Reporting to the Director of Communications & Strategic Partnerships but collaborating with multiple teams across the organization, the Graphic Design Specialist will convert written or spoken concepts into visuals that engage Mamatoto Village supporters/followers, clients, staff, the press, legislators, donors, and the general public. Additionally, this position will focus on the development and execution of marketing and branding initiatives for the organization across various channels.

ATTRIBUTES OF A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE

At least 3-5 years of design, marketing, and communications experience A clear grasp of the core components of marketing and strategic communication A strong designer with experience creating compelling content and who has a passion for storytelling Strong experience in copywriting, branding, producing print and electronic collateral (including newsletters, brochures, annual reports, direct mail, etc.), and project management. Ability to represent Mamatoto Village’s work with enthusiasm, intention, and authenticity High attention to detail, initiative, creativity, and exceptional problem-solving skills. Ability to receive constructive feedback and apply changes where necessary A strong self-motivator Considerate listener and believes that the community voice must be centered Engages in critical inquiry to promote self-awareness and accountability and implement liberatory frameworks within personal and team objectives and deliverables.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Creative Design and Marketing

Work on various projects and media, using various tools to visualize and develop innovative and creative graphic designs that meet Mamatoto Village’s strategic goals and align with the Organization’s brand and voice. Manage creation, development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, presentations, program materials, annual report, e-newsletters, Mamatoto Village website, and social media accounts. Create visually appealing promotional graphics for video campaigns that can be used on social media and e-mail Maintain and update (as needed) Mamatoto Village branding Collaborate with the Communications team to brainstorm, develop, and execute new ideas Use trend intelligence and innovative industry best practices when designing and executing concepts. Translate strategic direction into high-quality design within an established brand identity.

Administrative

Work independently and cooperatively with the Communications and Development Team and other departments to meet deadlines, stay within budget, and manage simultaneous projects. Oversee the production process and related administrative tasks, including establishing and managing vendor relationships, maintaining the design calendar and project deadlines, providing status updates, and coordinating tasks and reviews with internal and external stakeholders. Update and maintain internal databases for design, photography, and video collateral.

Skills And Requirements To Foster Success

A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field Demonstrable experience producing print and electronic collateral (including newsletters, brochures, annual reports, e-newsletters, direct mail, etc.) Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills Technical proficiency with design platforms such as Canva for teams, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, In-design, Illustrator, Premier), G-Suite, Microsoft Office, and all social media platforms Experience with photography and videography Experience editing social media video content Experience with animation and motion graphics a plus A documented history of successfully driving projects to completion A demonstrated ability to understand and articulate complex issues Enthusiasm to propose fresh ideas without prompting by leadership, openness to feedback on those ideas, and persistence to bring those ideas to life A passion for doing transformative work with exceptional people while not taking yourself too seriously Maintain an ethical, trusting, inclusive, and productive work environment
