The San José Environmental Services Department (ESD) is responsible for the management of solid waste collection and recycling; watershed protection and pollution prevention; municipal drinking water and recycled water; community sustainability initiatives, and the operation and infrastructure improvements of the San José-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility. The salary range for the Warehouse Supervisor classification is $77,968.80-$94,763.76 paid annually. This salary includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.
The Environmental Services Department is currently seeking to fill one (1) full-time Warehouse Supervisor vacancy. The key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Planning and supervising operations of a major warehousing facility providing a wide variety of commodities utilized City-wide, or a major warehouse with highly specialized parts and equipment.
Establishing minimum and maximum stock levels based on usage patterns, stock availability, lead times, and other factors.
Developing methods of efficient space utilization.
Planning and supervising receipt, storage, issuance, and disposal of items requiring specialized handling.
Supervising inter-departmental mail and drayage service.
Planning and supervising stock rotation and ensuring stock turnover standards.
Coordinating with buyers, vendors, and user departments to minimize inventory and eliminate obsolete parts.
Maintaining records of costs, vendors, usage patterns, and lead times.
Ensuring hazardous materials handling complies with regulations.
Vehicle maintenance and recordkeeping.
Qualifications include high school completion or equivalent, five (5) years of warehousing experience with two (2) years supervising others, and a valid California driver’s license. Desirable competencies include job expertise, computer skills, customer service, decision-making, initiative, multitasking, problem-solving, teamwork, supervision, and communication skills.
