As a Cellular RF Software/Firmware Engineer, you will be at the center of the embedded 5G/4G/multimode cellular firmware effort within a silicon design group responsible for designing and productizing innovative cellular SoCs. This position requires someone comfortable with all aspects of embedded software development, thrives in a dynamic multi-functional organization, is open to debating ideas, and adaptable to evolving requirements. Specify, design, and implement the physical layer embedded software architecture of an innovative mobile wireless communication system. Design, develop, and optimize Cellular Processing algorithms related to Baseband and RF components. Implement RF Control software in the baseband modem with precise timing requirements. Collaborate with Baseband & RF systems and hardware designers to define hardware functions and software requirements. Work with systems and IC designers to optimize power consumption of RF circuitry. Coordinate with multi-functional teams to manage dependencies and drive key radio features. Minimum Qualifications
BS degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience. Deep knowledge of communication theory, wireless standards, radio architecture, and interfaces. Experience in developing and debugging real-time embedded systems. Familiarity with mobile communication protocols, 4G/5G 3GPP standards, and PHY layer radio aspects. Understanding of Tx Power Control, AGC, physical channel handling, RF impediments, and mitigation techniques. Proven ability to solve functional and performance issues in physical layer and RF. Strong understanding of software engineering principles and computer science fundamentals. Proficiency in C and C++, with experience in compilers, build systems, and source control. Knowledge of computer architecture, especially HW/SW interfaces of wireless systems. Experience with debugging embedded software, familiarity with JTAG. Understanding of RF Validation and Calibration procedures. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of control aspects of RF transceivers and front-end components for 4G/5G processing. At Apple, the salary range for this role is $171,600 to $302,200, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
