Assist in maintaining the Festival of Lights show, general grounds work, and provide guests with support services and satisfaction
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Interact with the public in a cheerful and positive attitude, solve guest problems and complaints in a proper manner, and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees and external contractors Must be able to work alongside a team, or alone to accomplish goals and other job tasks Assist in maintaining inventory of Festival of Lights displays (non-licensed electrical work) Inspect and repair frames, and light strings for Festival of Lights displays and ability to follow display light pattern (non-licensed electrical work) Assist with construction and installation of light displays, landscape lighting, and facility decoration including decorating and undecorating trees, structures and buildings Assist in nightly inspections of lights and displays for duration of FOL Keep walk ways, parking lots, roadways, and driveways clear of debris and litter Operate equipment for maintenance of grounds such as blowers, chainsaws, log-splitter, trimmers, mowers, tractors, skid steer, trailers, and other pieces of equipment Able to use hand tools for grounds maintenance such as shovel, trowel, rake, cultivator, posthole digger, broom, axe, forks, pruners, loppers and shears Able to operate grinders, cutters, saws, and other equipment needed to routine maintenance of FOL displays and structures Operation of one-ton dump truck and pickup truck (with snow plow), bucket trucks and man lifts Mows and trims around FOL displays and other assigned areas Split, stack, and deliver firewood Trash collection park-wide through cottages, roadways, parking lots, shelters, and other assigned areas Clean shelters after rentals Snow removal and ice control from roadways, parking lots, driveways, and walk ways by using tractors, snow plows, shovels, brooms and ice chemical Prunes trees properly as needed Removes fallen trees and limbs, and assists with the removal of dead and/or damaged trees and shrubs Maintain clearance, make minor repairs, and paint fences and gates Performs minor repairs to roadways and parking lots Keep grounds, drainage ditches, and culverts free of litter and debris (including dead animals) Assist in setups and tear downs for special events Complete appropriate trainings listed on the human resources Training Matrix Adhere to Wheeling Park Commission’s safety rules and policy; refer any and all safety concerns to department manager, safety committee or human resources
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Valid driver's license
