Aquatics Location:
East Boston YMCA Description This position is primarily responsible, under the supervision of the Aquatic Director, for assisting in the planning, organizing, directing, budgeting, and evaluating programs within his/her area, in accordance with the mission, purposes, and policies of the association. Responsibilities include recruiting, orienting, training, and supervising all staff, paid and volunteer, related to his/her area. The position will act on behalf of the Aquatic Director in their absence and work within the guidelines of aquatic policies. Key Responsibilities Provide excellent member service by exceeding expectations. Engage with members to build relationships and understand their goals. Recruit, schedule, and supervise lifeguard and instructor personnel. Develop, oversee, and monitor the Aquatics budget. Plan and schedule program facilities for smooth operations. Review staff, class, and pool scheduling. Assist with instructional swim programs. Teach and/or guard up to 20 hours per week. Assist with registration and member inquiries. Provide ongoing training for aquatic staff. Oversee safety training, drills, and documentation. Maintain facility and equipment. Order equipment and supplies as needed. Maintain records for evaluation and reporting. Build relationships with community partners. Implement special aquatic events. Contribute to local media about programs and events. Record and analyze aquatic session data. Participate in staff meetings and training. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. At least 21 years old with YMCA Lifeguarding certification (must cross over if Red Cross certified). At least two years of experience in aquatic instruction and management. Experience supervising staff and managing schedules. Knowledge of YMCA trends and certifications. Physically able to interact with members and staff. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Moderate noise level; some evening and weekend work required. Travel for training or meetings.
