Job Description
60% - Customer Service (In-Person and Remote)
  • Greet and assist walk-ins to the front office including students, faculty, and administrative staff
  • Manage incoming phone calls and act as a resource to provide accurate answers and appropriate referrals. For incoming phone call assistance, any time scheduled between 8am-5pm will be completed in-person, and any time scheduled between 5pm-8pm will be completed remotely.
30% - Data Maintenance
  • Update and stock front office informational materials.
  • Input and track data in spreadsheets and other used databases.
  • Maintain the in-person scanning and electronic linking of important documents for the College.
10% - Other
  • Assist office manager with assigned projects, as needed.
  • Lift/move boxes or other office materials, as needed.

Work Schedule
To be arranged between the hours of 8am and 8pm. Mon-Fri. (Minimum availability of 12 hours per week required). Must be available to work some of Summer.
Required Qualifications
  1. Previous customer service experience, as indicated in application materials.
  2. Proficient computer skills in Word and Excel, as stated in application materials.
  3. Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, as evidenced in application materials.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Excellent communication skills, as evidenced in application materials.
  2. Previous experience working in a professional office environment.

Position Overview
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking a student office assistant. This role provides the opportunity to develop customer service and administrative skills in a fast-paced, professional environment. This position allows for year-round work, as the office remains open during semester breaks including Summer, Fall and Spring.

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
