Overview
The CDL Driver is responsible timely and efficient transportation of donated food products and provides dependable assistance in warehouse operations and safety procedures with an emphasis on receipt and storage of incoming product.

  • Drive truck per assigned schedule to ensure safe, professional and timely pickup and delivery of product
  • Inspect truck for defects before and after trips; submit daily report indicating truck condition
  • Issue and/or obtain signatures on receipts or bills of lading for pickups or deliveries
  • Assist in loading and unloading of truck
  • Develop good working relationships with donors and agency staff; immediately notify Manager of any potential problems
  • Keep accurate, legible log of the weights and sources of all food and grocery products donated and all agency receipts and shortages
  • Work cooperatively with warehouse staff and assist with warehouse duties when time permits
  • Pull and prep product for shipping; ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and damage-free
  • Label, sort, pack and weigh product for distribution
  • Efficiently load and unload freight, move product with pallet jack and/or forklift and safely stack in appropriate storage area
  • Operate materials handling equipment safely and efficiently
  • Inspect warehouse equipment daily for proper working condition; notify warehouse management team of necessary maintenance or repairs
  • Assist in maintaining warehouse security to ensure a safe working environment

Essential Responsibilities

Additional Duties
  • Clean and fuel vehicle; call to schedule on-site truck washes
  • Comply with all state and association standards for food handling and storage
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work area
  • Sort pallets, clean trucks, trailers and parking lot as needed
  • Participate in physical inventories as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
  • Education and Experience
  • High school graduate or equivalent, valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) active DOT card and 2 5 years of prior experience in similar or related role
  • Technical Proficiencies
Knowledge of basic computer programs preferred
  • Communication Skills
Must be able to speak, read and write English and be able to understand instructions, work orders, safety rules and procedures
  • Other Competencies
Good driving record; ability to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers); forklift certification (required within 30 days of employment); compassion for our mission
Physical Requirements And Work Environment
Works primarily in a warehouse environment and driving in service area
Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds
May encounter exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles, and hear moderate to loud noise from warehouse equipment
Requires work schedule flexibility with occasional weekend and evening availability
