JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Regularly required to safely operate a school bus and transport students to and from school and other designated locations in accordance with Texas code and the Transportation Department Employee Safety and Policy Handbook. Maintain safety of students on the bus through enforcement of safety standards of conduct and perform preventative maintenance and safety checks of the bus on a daily basis.

SALARY:
Hourly starting at $16.35, higher with experience

- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or Possess Valid Texas Class "B" Commercial Driver License with Passenger (P) and School Bus(s) Endorsements
- Driving record that meets the requirements of the District/State
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical evaluation to include drug testing
- Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Certification or must obtain within 90 days
- Must be at least 21 years old

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner
- Conducts thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and special equipment and notifies vehicle maintenance of needed repairs
- Inspects bus by checking dashboard gauges, tires, lights, brakes and steering to ensure bus can be operated safely before driving
- Ensures proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, tire checker and reflector
- Corrects unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisor of any conditions that are not correctable immediately
- Observes all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses
- Ensures the safety, welfare and orderly conduct of passengers while on the bus
- Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilites as may be assigned
