The nurse will conduct CT simulations for diagnostic purposes, with and without IV contrast. Nurses will access ports and start peripheral IVs for treatment. The position requires knowledge of external radiation therapy and adherence to radiation safety precautions. Skills in managing alterations in skin and mucous membranes, as well as providing wound care, are essential. The nurse will support patients experiencing constipation or diarrhea, dysphagia, edema, nausea, vomiting, and neuropathy. The nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary support services, including pharmacy and social services. Responsibilities include monitoring patients’ conditions and providing education to patients and their families. The ability to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values is key.
