Student Writer/Editor

The student writer/editor is part of a dynamic team of content creators who use data-driven insights and collaborative approaches to create multichannel marketing and engagement solutions to advance the ASU brand. The student writer/editor will also contribute to the Outreach Hub's alumni communications efforts, working under the guidance of the OH marketing content specialist. The student will be responsible for writing and editing content for communication vehicles including emails, websites, solicitations, some social media posts and other collateral designed to connect people and organizations to our partner, Arizona State University. The student also will assist the senior content manager with editing and proofing material produced by the Outreach Hub. ASUEP offers student workers exceptional professional development opportunities, including mentoring, monthly student worker lunches, quarterly professional skills workshops and networking events designed to expand your network of contacts within the organization. What you'll do: Writes web content for the ASU Foundation's giving website, the ASU alumni website and other ASU Enterprise Partners digital properties. Writes email communications with an understanding of email best practices and standards for driving engagement. Researches and writes news or feature stories as needed. Researches, writes and edits a variety of communications on behalf of and in partnership with internal and external stakeholders. Conducts interviews and thoroughly investigates activities and events assigned to effectively create written materials; may include digital photography when reporting on ASU Foundation events. Provides proofreading and editing support to Outreach Hub staff for all communication pieces produced by ASU Enterprise Partners. Maintains thorough files and project records and track client communications so as to find important information and project histories. Performs other duties as assigned. What you'll need: Strong skill in writing for multiple communications vehicles such as websites, newsletters, email, etc. Strong working knowledge of the Associated Press Stylebook and ability to learn and abide by ASU brand guidelines. Strong content development and writing skills. Effective proofreading and editing skills. Use of computers with working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Collaborative style combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment. Strong and collegial interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and by phone. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to ASU Enterprise Partners, its affiliates and university business and confidential prospect information. Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties. Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects. Required qualifications: A candidate must be a currently enrolled student at Arizona State University. A student must be willing to sign and abide by a confidentiality agreement. Preferred qualifications: A student obtaining a degree in journalism, marketing or public relations is preferred. However, a currently enrolled student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a related field with a willingness to learn and an ability to work well with others is also encouraged to apply.
