Assistant Professor In Computational Neuroscience

The Department of Neuroscience in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2026. We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality research in Computational Neuroscience, including but not limited to areas such as artificial intelligence, convolutional neural networks, reinforcement learning decision making, memory, computational modeling, cognitive and neural processing. We are particularly interested in scholars whose research interests will deepen course offerings within the Neuroscience Department, broaden the expertise of the University's Center for Neuroscience and Behavior, and be capable of building collaborations within the department and/or across the University (e.g., Computer Science, Physics, Biology, Psychology, Economics). The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally supported program of research, engage in research training, and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates should be strongly committed to excellence in both teaching and scholarly research. Responsibilities will also include participation in department, school and university activities. The annual salary range is $90,000-101,000. Applicants should have a Ph.D. or an anticipated Ph.D. completion by August 2026.
