An exciting opportunity is available for a Research Associate to join the Muoz-Cnoves Lab in the Altos Labs San Diego Institute of Science. Specifically, we are looking for an individual to assist in rodent mouse models research (specifically related to skeletal muscle) and conducting phenotypic, functional and histology assays (70% of time) and assist with cellular and molecular biology experiments and downstream tissue/cell processing (30% of time). The individual must be detail-oriented, have strong communication skills, and be willing to work in a dynamic, fast-growing environment. Responsibilities: Proficient in basic in vivo methodology techniques (e.g., dosing, sample collection, physiological monitoring, necropsy) Perform muscle/nerve injury experiments in mice Conduct muscle functional assays (muscle force) and other in vivo phenotypic assays Maintain cell culture models and generate stable cell lines. Conduct phenotypic in vitro assays, including ELISA, qPCR, immunofluorescence imaging and FACS, across different cell types. Process tissue through standard genomics pipelines (e.g. generation of bulk and single cell RNA sequencing libraries) Thoroughly document processes and results. Assist with routine lab tasks (e.g. lab management, ordering, receiving). Present findings at internal group meetings. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree plus at least four years of wet lab experience in a molecular and cell biology lab (industry or academia). Experience with the following: Mouse in vivo handling and experimentation. Mammalian cell culture experience is required. Basic molecular biology techniques are required. Experience with genomics assays and NGS library preparation is required. Experience with tissue processing is required. Excellent record keeping skills in a lab setting (familiarity with ELNs preferred). Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with a broad range of people. Demonstrated high productivity and ability to complete work in a timely manner.
