Mandatory three-day training (weekdays, daylight hours). Your Role

Assist with daily patient care (bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, etc.). Perform vital signs checks, blood glucose monitoring, specimen collection, EKGs, and more. Work rotating shifts (day, evening, overnight, weekends, and holidays). Career Ladder & Qualifications

Patient Care Technician:

High school diploma + 1 year of experience OR enrollment in a PT/OT/PA program OR a Bachelor's in health sciences. Senior/Specialist PCT:

2 years of experience OR 1 year + PT/OT/PA program OR 1 year + Bachelor's in health sciences. Lead PCT:

3 years of experience + advanced patient care tasks. High school diploma or equivalent and one of the following: 1 year of general healthcare experience, OR 6 months of experience as a UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency achieved within 120 days of hire/transfer/promotion, OR Enrollment in a PT/OT/PA program or a related healthcare training program with at least one completed clinical rotation, OR Completion of a Bachelor's degree in a health sciences field. Successful completion of the UPMC Patient Care Technician class. Successful completion of basic information system training. Preferred: Experience with microcomputers and familiarity with electronic health records. Preferred: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic certification, or current enrollment in an EMT/Paramedic program. Medication Access: Limited to medication distribution to the nurse. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Required within 30 days of hire (must meet AHA standards with both a didactic and skills demonstration component). Preferred: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Act 34 Clearance required. UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
