Required Qualification: (as evidenced by an attached resume) PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Bioengineering, Genetics, Genomics, Biomedical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, Material Science, or a closely related field in hand by the start of the appointment. Preferred Qualification: PhD or MD who has research experience with next-generation sequencing technology, sequencing library design, DNA probe design, DNA based cell staining, multiplexed protein/DNA bioassays, various DNA technologies, PCR, RNA sequencing, microarray-based biosensor, omics data processing, artificial intelligence, AI-based data analysis, transcriptomics, proteomics, genomics or spatial omics. Interdisciplinary background or interest. A focus on Wet Lab research development. Candidates with experience of spatial omics or single-cell omics will be the priority. Brief Description of Position: Stony Brook University has a Postdoctoral Associate position in the department of Biomedical Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Jun Wang. The incumbent will conduct scientific research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The incumbent will work on research projects related to development of next-generation sequencing-based spatial omic technologies for in-depth study of molecular mechanisms. Research directions include exploring DNA sequencing, DNA probe design, sequencing library preparation, bioanalytical chemistry, bioengineering and bioinformatics solutions for emerging problems in neuroscience, cancer biology, immunotherapy, infectious disease, and regenerative medicine. Duties: Within the predetermined research scope, design and develop methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of spatial omics. Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related fields to analyze the collected data. Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing. Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed. Other duties as assigned. Special Notes: The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
