Veterinary Technician 1- Large Animal Client Services
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Veterinary Receptionist to join our Equine & Farm Animal Clinic. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication abilities. As a Veterinary Receptionist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations at the clinic by handling various administrative tasks and providing exceptional customer service to clients and referring veterinarians. 40% Maintain clear and concise communication with clinicians, house officers, staff, and students to facilitate efficient workflow. Serve as a liaison between clients and the LSU Large Animal veterinary team. Demonstrate expertise in equine and farm animal care to effectively communicate with clients and address their inquiries. Perform emergency triaging procedures to assess the urgency of cases and prioritize accordingly. Maintain positive relationships with all clients and referral veterinarians to enhance the clinic's reputation. Ensure excellent customer service through proper phone etiquette, answering calls promptly and accurately. 20% Accurately schedule surgical and medical appointments, ensuring proper coordination of resources and timely patient care. Obtain detailed patient history for new appointments, capturing accurate details of the reason for scheduling. Assist in maintaining the EMR system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date patient and client information. Request documentation from referral veterinarians. 20% Assists technicians with upkeep and input of charges for patients within the hospital; posting, collecting, and billing; communication with clients; collections--reviews receivables when checking clients in and ensuring late balances are collected prior to service. Verify appropriate documents are signed and deposits are collected upon intaking the patient and bill is paid prior to patient leaving. Apply package prices to invoices for relevant procedures. Work with the business office for monthly stall charges. Check out clients at the time of discharge, collect deposits on inpatient cases. Verify corporate account eligibility and assist with monthly statements. Check patient visit list weekly and contact clinicians for necessary information. 10% Assist in maintaining electronic treatment sheet program and check out patients from the treatment sheet program in a timely manner. Perform routine receptionist tasks with efficiency and professionalism to support the hospital's daily operations. 10% Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree OR Associate's degree in veterinary technology OR CVT or equivalent OR 3 years of experience in a working environment with similar duties. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 2 years of administrative experience related to the duties of the job OR Associate's degree in Vet Technology with 2 years of administrative experience related to the duties of the job OR certification as a vet tech or equivalent (Licensed, registered, etc.) with 2 years of administrative experience related to the duties of the job. Special or Physical Qualifications: Essential Personnel - This position may be required to report to campus in time of emergency and/or closure per PS-18. Cash Handling - This position has access to/directly handles cash. Financial history/credit check required per FASOP HR-04. Physical Requirements-Required to be able to lift up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for prolonged periods, vision near sight, vision far sight, able to reach below the shoulder, pushing, pulling, grasping, bending, squatting, and/or twisting.
