Agency: Texas A&M University - Kingsville Department: Dept Of Teacher & Bilingual Educ Proposed Minimum Salary: Commensurate Job Location: Kingsville, Texas Job Type: Faculty Assistant/Associate Professor of Teacher Education - Literacy (Tenured/Tenure-Track) Job Position Description: The Teachers and Bilingual Education Department (TBED) in the College of Education and Human Performance at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) invites applications for a 9-month faculty position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Teacher Education - Literacy (Tenured/Tenure-Track) to begin August 2025 or Spring 2026. The Core-Subjects EC-6 Program faculty are dedicated to preparing future educators, researchers, and leaders in the fields of literacy using both evidence-based and innovative practices to meet the needs of diverse learners. The Core-Subjects EC-6 program in TBED offers a Bachelor of Science degree with licensure options in K-12 on our two campuses (Kingsville and Weslaco). Responsibilities: Coordinate the undergraduate Core-Subjects EC-6 program; Recruit students for the programs; Teach a variety of undergraduate and/or graduate Reading and Education courses; Serve on university, college, and department committees; Maintain a record of scholarly productivity commensurate with faculty position, related to literacy; Advise undergraduate and graduate students in their area of expertise (advisement); Contribute to course and program development; Continue professional development and stay at the cutting edge of research in Literacy and Education. Required qualifications: An earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Literacy from an accredited institution (ABD applicants considered); Current teaching certification (EC-6, middle school, or secondary school) in the U.S.; Minimum three years of successful teaching of students in the content area of reading in public PK-12 settings in the U.S. All positions are security-sensitive. Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent upon the institution's verification of credentials and/or other information required by the institution's procedures, including the completion of the criminal history check.
