We are seeking a data scientist to provide technical direction and develop data science solutions to help us ensure the US Navy has the most accurate and reliable navigation systems in the world. Work with multi-disciplinary teams to develop data collection, processing, and analysis efforts to assess the performance of a navigation systems for various US Navy platforms Provide technical direction to navigation subject matter experts on the use of data science techniques for answering critical questions and solving technical challenges with navigation systems Develop models and simulations to describe data, predict events, and prescribe a course of action that directly reflect stakeholder's needs Acquire domain knowledge in the field of maritime navigation and use that insight to build forward-thinking analytical solutions to test and evaluate prototype and operational navigation systems Circulate knowledge by articulating ideas clearly through effective visualizations, papers, and presentations to technical staff, management, and government decision makers Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you... Have a Bachelor's in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field Have a demonstrated technical leadership or project management from concept development through execution and close out Have experience developing AI/ML algorithms and/or translating mathematical concepts using efficient and well-documented code Proficiency in developing analytical pipelines, data science applications and dashboard tools, and statistical and machine learning methodologies for specific quantitative goals Excellent written and oral communication skills to articulate complex technical issues for a wide range of audiences Have an interest in learning about maritime navigation systems Have experience with Python and/or MATLAB Have experience with using version control software, such as Git Are able to obtain a Secret security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information.
